Pacaya
Located between the departments of Guatemala and Escuintla, it has a height of 2,552 m.a.s.l. and it is believed that a strong explosive activity must have occurred that created five large craters, the largest of which is the municipality of San Vicente Pacaya. The cones are known as “cheese leaf”, which is on the shore of the Calderas lagoon, Cerro Negro, Cerro Chiquito, Cerro Chino and the fifth active cone is recognized as the Pacaya volcano.
The scenic and natural beauty of this park is worth appreciating, where majestic volcanoes emerge as guardians, creating a unique mosaic that is difficult to appreciate anywhere else in the world. This is one of 3 active volcanoes in the country (Pacaya, Fuego, and Santiaguito) and those who climb this majestic volcano can appreciate a pleasant, fresh and amazing climate.
